The difference is our research and quality

MacuPrime is the only carotenoid supplement backed by scientific research from the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, SETU. Our quality is independently tested, proven and certified.

Evidence based nutrition

MacuPrime is unique.

Choosing the right supplement can be tricky with so many options available. It is important to choose a supplement backed by peer-reviewed scientific studies and independent quality certifications.

MacuPrime is the only carotenoid supplement that has had its entire formula tested in 15 peer-reviewed, published scientific studies . It was the first carotenoid supplement to be approved by the rigorous Supplement Certified testing programme.

The Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, based at the South East Technological University in Waterford, is led by Professor John Nolan. He is a nutritional biochemist who has dedicated his career to researching carotenoids and their benefits for human health. MacuPrime is the result of over 25 years of this research to find out more click here.

What’s in MacuPrime?

We only use ingredients in their natural form, with no hidden nasties

MacuPrime

The MacuPrime formula combines all three macular carotenoids, lutein (10mg), zeaxanthin (2mg) and meso-zeaxanthin (10mg) in a specific 10:10:2 ratio, which are found in high concentrations at the back of the eye.

What are macular carotenoids?

Plant Based Pigments

Carotenoids are natural pigments that give fruits and vegetables their vibrant colours. We source ours exclusively from marigold flowers grown by our single source supplier, IOSA in Mexico.

Targeted Nutrition

When we eat fruits and vegetables or take MacuPrime the carotenoids travel through the body to the back of the eye where they gather in front of the light-sensitive cells in our eye to form the macular pigment.

Macular Pigment

Lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin act like a jigsaw to form the yellow macular pigment, with meso-zeaxanthin particularly concentrated at the centre of this pigment. It is important to eat enough carotenoids every day to maintain an optimum macular pigment.

MacuPrime PLUS

MacuPrime PLUS combines all three macular carotenoids—lutein, meso-zeaxanthin and zeaxanthin, with additional vitamins and minerals.

Based on the orignal ingredients and formula researched at the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, MacuPrime PLUS contains zinc to help maintain normal vision, as well as copper, vitamin C and vitamin E, which contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

How do the extra vitamins and minerals help?

Combat oxidative stress

Vitamin C, vitamin E, copper and zinc complement the macular carotenoids, mopping up harmful free radicals and protecting cells from oxidative stress.
